Thursday Night Guitar Practice

Last night 3 of my good friends Russ, Rich and Drew came over to practice guitars together. We all got ourselves a beer and sat around in the living room with our guitars. Richard has been playing guitar for years and always has some new things to show us. Last night we learned how to play a little bit of Dust in the Wind by Kansas from Richard. Richard has a lot more experience playing guitar than we do.

After that we moved on to the song Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffett. Margaritaville is one of the first songs i learned how to play. It’s not to hard for a beginner because it only has three chords, g, d and a.

After about 2 hours we wrapped things up and went out to a local restuarant for steak night. Every thursday they have a New York Strip for $9.95. Yum!

Working on Green Day, Time of Your Life Guitar Song

Working on the song Time of Your Life by Green Day. Actually i have been practicing this one for awhile now. It’s not to hard of a song because most of the chord changes are pretty easy. I still play it a little slower than the original version but i’m sure in time i’ll get up to speed. If you can learn to play this one then it’s almost the same for the song Every Rose Has its Thorn by Poison. Even a beginner like me can learn these two fairly well.

Another Day on the Guitar

Today i started out practicing a few scales my instuctor gave me to work on, not really a song to practice but i can see where it will help me later playing some lead guitar. My fingers don’t want to do what they’re supposed to do but they are just gonna have to get used to it.

Later on i’ll go over to jamplay and watch a few videos and try to learn something new there. Sometime around 5 oclock my buddy Russ is coming over and we’ll practice some of the stuff we’ve learned together and we’ll have a beer or 2 also. I’m beginning to see why musicians love their job!

My First Guitar Post

After 3 months of taking guitar lessons and practicing like crazy, i decided to start a blog about it. It will be interesting to look back and see my daily practice and progress. I have a one hour lesson every tuesday at 2:30, this tuesday my instructor showed me how to play Don’t Ask Me No Questions by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Getting this song down is gonna take awhile.

I am also am learning a lot on the internet. I have found lots of video lessons to learn from and i can play them over and over again until i get it. Which usually take awhile.
